Since 1790, the Balblair Distillery has been aging ever so perfectly on the coast of Dornoch Firth in Northern Scotland. One notable aspect of the Balblair story is a portfolio of Single Malt Scotch whisky that’s exclusively Vintages–with bottles not marked with an age statement, but simply with the year that the whisky was laid down. The Vintages contain the core characteristics of apricots, oranges, spices, floral notes and green apples.

Located in Dufftown on Speyside, The Balvenie distillery may be humble in appearance, but inside is a palace dedicated to the time-honored craft of whisky making. Nowhere else in Scotland will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, still malts in its own traditional floor maltings and still has its own dedicated coopers and coppersmith. The exceptional quality of The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky owes much to one of its other in-house craftsman, Malt Master David Stewart, whose unmatched expertise ensures that each expression of The Balvenie range makes the absolute best of the complex alchemy of spirit, wood and time.

Founded in 1881, Bruichladdich is thought to have been originally designed to produce the purest unpeated spirit possible, which made it unique amongst the rest of the distilleries on Islay in the late-1800s. For that reason, Bruichladdich reminds us that it’s “living proof that the traditional whisky regions of Scotland make no sense.” While their peatless production method no longer exists, the original Victorian machinery remains, allowing the distillery’s legacy of craft distilling to touch its continuing generations of craftsmen.

Back in 2000, John Glaser believed there were too many companies making and selling Scotch whisky the same way. An American, transplanted to the UK, he set up a different kind of Scotch whisky company, based on the long-lost model of the Scotch whisky blending house, but with a forward-looking approach and an unrelenting desire to create quality. He originally launched the business from his kitchen, but today, more than a decade later, Compass Box has an office and Blending Room in London, its own stocks of maturing whiskies in Scotland and just over a dozen employees.

Throughout the six generations of the Grant family dating back to 1865, Glenfarclas has been renowned for producing Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky in the traditional Speyside style, with a heavy Sherry influence. To this day, the distillery continues to be one of the only family owned and operated in all of Scotland.

In 1887, when the first drop of spirit flowed out of Glenfiddich’s copper stills, William Grant fulfilled his lifelong ambition of creating "the best dram in the valley." It was a dream he accomplished with the help of his nine children and a single stone mason, who together built the distillery by hand, stone-by-stone in Speyside’s Valley of the Deer: Glenfiddich. To this day, Glenfiddich remains one few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family owned and is now the World's Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a true reflection of the founder’s innovative nature, passed down through the generations.

Highland Park is made today with the same enduring belief, integrity and exacting standards as it has been since 1798. The established attitude at Highland Park is one of custodianship rather than management, of tradition rather than novelty. Highland Park is one of only a handful of distilleries that still retains a traditional malting floor and uses sweet, heathery peat from its Orkney Island home. The distillery still uses Oak casks seasoned with dry Oloroso sherry and harmonizes its fully matured batches for up to six months, marrying them together for a final layer of complexity and a balanced finish.

Founded in 1824 in the heart of Speyside, The Macallan was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be legally licensed. From its founding, through the subsequent owners of The Macallan distillery in the 19thand 20th centuries and into the present century, The Macallan has been recognized for its outstanding quality and innovation above all else. Its curiously small copper stills and dedication to using only the most exception Oak casks selected by Master of Wood, Stuart MacPherson, are just a few of the reasons The Macallan maintains worldwide fame.

Founded in 1826, Old Pulteney rests its roots in Wick, a small, historical town, once known as the herring capital of Europe. While Wick’s seafaring lifestyle has come and gone, the spirit lives on in Old Pulteney Single Malt Scotch Whisky - long renowned as “The Maritime Malt." As one of Scotland’s most northerly mainland distilleries, Old Pulteney characterizes itself by its spirit of endurance passed down throughout centuries.
